McFarland, who now teaches
at the University of Texas in Austin, created this image,
in 1976 of a
Kansas wheatfield with a medium format camera with a super
wide-angle lens, printing it with low,
soft contrast in order to make the values of the grey
clouded sky and
the field itself as similar as possible.
It remains one of his
best known and appreciated images.
This image is a silver
print sized 7.5 x 12 inches on 11 x 14 inch paper,
archivally matted and framed to 16 x 20 inches.
The print is perfect.
