"White Tree, Rocky Mountain National Park"

Howard Bond continues to work in the classic tradition of Edward Weston and Ansel Adams, creating large format black and white negatives of the American landscape.  This image was created in 1976 in Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado on a 11 x 14 inch negative and contact printed in 1977 to the size of this print (10 1/4 x 13 1/4 inches) then mounted and matted to 16 x 20 inches.
It is signed in pencil in the lower right of the mount.

In 1990 Bond assembled Portfolio X, a grouping of eight contact prints, and prepared an edition of thirty portfolios. This image was included in the portfolio of eight.  This particular print, however, was printed by Bond thirteen years earlier and issued singularly.

This silver print is perfect, having been framed archivally since 1977.
